Fashion Fair!

Don't you just love anything makeup or fashion? Come Saturday February 23,  Sleek makeup and Jumia.com (one of the leading online stores in the country) will be hosting a runway show and sales fair. I hear there will be lots of goody bags for guests, and a raffle draw with gift items like perfumes, skin care products, human hair! *faints* and many more!

Smart Shield Sunscreen

I was recently sent a sunscreen product to try out and review. So I thought it best to do a quick write up on sunscreens and their advantages. For those of you who live in hot climates like myself, you’ll find this post very interesting.

We all know what sunscreens are right? In case you’re unsure, a sunscreen is simply a product that helps protect the skin from sunrays which could lead to sunburns and even cancer.
I’ve always had trouble finding the perfect sunscreen; it’s either I found them too thick that it makes me sweat ridiculously, or hard to completely blend in that it leaves like a white/pale tone to my skin, there was just always something I couldn’t stand. However, they are very essential for any beauty regime and so everyone should own one or at least use a lotion that contains SPF.


How to Use a sunscreen

Using a sunscreen can be really tricky. If you read the instructions on the back of most sunscreen products, you’ll see notes guiding you on how to use such a product. When using any sunscreen, it is important to follow these steps:
1. Apply 20-30 minutes before going outdoors. It takes about that time for skin to actually absorb the product, thereby creating a sort of film which will help protect the skin from sun rays

2. Apply liberallllllly. I cannot stress this enough. Here’s the thing, if you want your sunscreen to do its job, you need to pack it on. Using it as if you’re applying body lotion/cream won’t get the job done; this is one of the reasons why I don’t use sunscreens on my face. I just rather use my face cream which contains SPF 15.

3. Most products advise you stay away from the sun especially within the hours of 2 and 4pm because of harsh sunrays (not that I’ve ever understood this, seeing as it somewhat questions the efficiency of sunscreens), but be sure to keep your sunscreen close by at all times.

The name of the product is Smart Shield Serious Sun Protection SPF 30. I’ve used it a couple of times and honestly, I’m impressed so far. Although I haven’t tried using it on my face yet, I think it’s a fantastic product.

Features
-It comes in a 148 ml bottle which looks alright (very basic)
-Very light and easy to apply
-A little greasy but tends to dry off in a few seconds
-Odour is ok. Pretty much smells like every other sunscreen
-It did make me sweat a little, but nothing unbearable
-Contains SPF 30 which is just ideal for the Lagos weather
-The best part, it does NOT leave that funny whitish colour on your sin. It’s super easy to blend in!

Ndidi's Makeover

I know it's been agessss since I last put up a post and I'm extremely sorry; words can not explain how busy I've been. I'm back now anyway, and don't intend on disappearing again *So help me God* I do hope everyone's enjoying the new year. I'll be sharing with you all what I've been up to lately.

Reviews: Revlon Total Face Cream and Urban Decay Lipstick

My sincere apology for the lack of posts lately, my schedule has been crazy! But I'm glad to be back.

I promised to put up review posts on some new products I acquired last month. So here are two of them:

1. Revlon Total Control Face Cream

This cream actually works to an extent. I haven’t used it so many times but it does control oil as it says on the pack. However, my face tends to be extremely oily most times; so it’s very difficult to find a product that actually controls oil for a long period of time.

I would say this product is fair enough, and for the price as well, not so bad! It kept my face matte for about 3-4 hours or there about. That’s pretty decent considering how oily my face can be. Contains SPF 8 which is a plus, but you'll need more than SPF8 to survive in Lagos. 

I currently use it for makeovers on my clients and it’s definitely a product I will recommend for people with combination skin.

2. Urban Decay Gravity lipstick

My very first Urban Decay lipstick and I’m not so disappointed. I have a palette, and two single eye shadows from the brand which are excellent! Although it looks half a shade lighter than I expected, the colour in reality is still very pretty. It is not very pigmented but it has a strong staying power, you literally don’t need touch ups.

The product is quite minty, which I don’t mind. But if you’re one who dislikes the idea of stinging sensations, this lipstick is certainly not for you!

PROS

1. Lasts for hourssss!

2. Pretty colour, best described as wine

3. Love the packaging

CONS

1    1. The colour wasn’t exactly what I expected

2    2.  Not so pigmented

3    3.   Its minty content can be a little annoying

Stumbled on a line of brushes at the Casabella store over the weekend. I have already used this product and I'm loving it! Definitely going to be reviewing this item.

1. Urban Decay Lipstick in Gravity

I've never tried any lipstick from the Urban Decay range so I
was glad I got this. As seen below, I have already used the product
and it's been good so far, but I'll do a proper review on it and the other products in a separate post.

   I'm very particular about what I use on my face because I HATE
the thought of breakouts and allergies. That's why I described this product
as interesting. However, it says oil control for 24 hours! So I'll definitely try this out

3. X Factor NaturalMinerals Foundation

This is the second product I found interesting simply because I usually just
go for liquids and cream foundations. I know for sure mineral products are usually
lighter (light-medium coverage) which means they actually just enhance one's face rather
than cover up or mask it.

LOVE this product even though I haven't exactly used it. I tested it on the back of my palm and it was HIGHLY pigmented so I'm pretty excited about this one
